Natural Gas Pipeline Vote of Confidence

The Associated Press and picked up Forbes magazine reported today that the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission energy regulators on Friday said they gave a positive vote of confidence environmental review of a 270-mile natural gas pipeline project affecting Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.
The pipeline natural gas project, known as Southeast Supply Header, is a joint venture between CenterPoint Energy (nyse: CNP - news - people ) and Spectra Energy (nyse: SE - news - people ) Corp., both of Houston
The project is designed to connect the natural gas pipelines in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas with another line that also connects itself with the pipeline that runs from the Gulf of Mexico to Florida.
The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s environmental review was prepared by the staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. While the project would harm about five acres of forested wetlands, FERC concluded that the impact "would be substantive but not significant."
The project still needs a final OK from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission before it can be built.
